Very sweet, great in smoothies, no chalky clumps or slimey feel
I’ve tried a lot of protein powders over the years—some gritty, some slimy, some that tasted like despair. But Orgain’s Vanilla Bean protein powder? Surprisingly solid for a vegan blend.First off, it checks all the boxes: organic, vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, kosher, and free from any sketchy artificial sweeteners. Basically, it’s the people-pleaser of protein powders. The scoop comes included and you get 21 grams of protein per 2-scoop serving, plus a bit of fiber, but not so much that you need to be with 50 feet of a bathroom at all times. A serving has 150 calories and less than a gram of sugar.Flavor-wise, it is nicely vanilla-y but very sweet in a stevia kind of way. It plays very nicely in smoothies. (My current fave is mango, banana, OJ, coconut water, ice, this powder and a spin in the Nutribullet.) It blends up really well with no weird chalky texture or mystery clumps. If you’re the type to just shake it up with water, it’s…fine. Not amazing. But it doesn’t taste like punishment, which is honestly a win when it comes to protein powders.Bottom line: Great for smoothies, less thrilling solo, but a solid, sweet-tasting, not-weird-textured option that’s worth a try.

Clean, Simple, and Surprisingly Smooth
I’ve been using Orgain’s Vanilla Bean protein powder and it’s worked really well for my routine. I like that it’s plant-based, organic, and free from dairy, soy, and gluten, which makes it feel like a cleaner choice compared to a lot of other options out there. It has 21 grams of protein per serving, which is solid, and I appreciate that it also has some added fiber. The flavor is nice and mellow—vanilla without being overly sweet or artificial tasting. It mixes smoothly, especially in almond milk or in a smoothie. I’ve even stirred it into oatmeal or baked with it, and it holds up great. I wouldn’t say it’s the creamiest protein ever, but it’s definitely not chalky or gritty if you blend it well. That said, it’s not for everyone. Some people might notice a bit of an earthy aftertaste or feel like it’s a little thick, especially if you just shake it in water. I’ve also seen a few folks mention mild bloating or digestive discomfort, so it probably depends on your sensitivity to certain ingredients.Overall, I think Orgain Vanilla Bean is a solid pick for anyone looking for a plant-based protein that’s clean, reliable, and versatile. It’s become a staple for me, especially on busy mornings when I need something quick and filling.

Smooth, Versatile, and Clean Protein Powder
I've tried several protein powders over the years, but Orgain Organic Vegan Protein Powder (Vanilla Bean) stands out for its smooth texture, versatility, and clean ingredients.Mixability & TextureOne of my biggest issues with protein powders is clumping, but this one blends effortlessly. Whether I mix it with whole milk or 2%, it dissolves smoothly without any chalky or grainy texture. Drinking it as a shake is enjoyable, with no need for excessive stirring or blending.Versatility in RecipesWhat really sets this product apart is how well it integrates into cooking and baking. I’ve used it in my from-scratch pancake recipe, and it blends seamlessly without altering the consistency or requiring adjustments. It gives me peace of mind knowing I can add extra nutrition to my kids’ favorite breakfast without compromising taste or texture. Unlike other protein powders I’ve tried, this one doesn’t make the batter too thick or dry.Beyond pancakes, I’ve successfully incorporated it into other baking recipes—muffins, waffles, and even homemade protein bars. I appreciate that I don’t have to tweak my base recipes, which isn’t always the case with plant-based protein powders.Flavor & SweetnessThe Vanilla Bean flavor is rich and decadent without being overpowering. Since it’s sweetened with stevia, I find the sweetness level to be well-balanced—not too strong or artificial-tasting. If you’re used to sugar-laden protein powders, this might be an adjustment, but I personally enjoy the natural taste.Final ThoughtsThis is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a high-quality, plant-based protein powder that’s easy to mix, works well in recipes, and contains clean ingredients. Whether you’re drinking it as a shake or using it in baked goods, it performs exceptionally well.✔ Pros:✅ Blends smoothly, no clumping✅ Versatile—great for shakes & baking✅ Clean ingredients, non-GMO, no artificial additives✅ Balanced sweetness with stevia✅ Rich vanilla flavor⚠ Considerations:❌ If you’re not used to stevia, the taste might take some getting used to❌ Vanilla flavor is strong—great if you love vanilla, but it might overpower delicate recipesWould I buy this again? Absolutely! It’s now a staple in my kitchen for both drinks and baking.

Great protein but lower price at Whole Foods (consistently)
This is a great product. I am a big fan of it. Taste is great. It is healthy. Consistent blend. Overall on the cheaper end for what you get in terms of protein sources. That said, the reason for only 4/5 instead of 5 stars is that it is cheaper at 2 separate Whole Foods near me. For whatever reason, since they are owned by the same entity, amazon has consistently listed it at a higher price.I have checked on this 3 times when making returns to or shopping at my local WF. Price varies here and the market, but consistently is lower there by a few $.This isn’t something to go out of your way for, but if you shop at or have plans to go to your Whole Foods while simultaneously needing this product, get it there. The upgraded (higher protein concentration) version is substantially a better value too, if that is your thing
