Impala trailer light kit
Works great on our 2017 impala. Wiring in the trunk not difficult to hook up after watching a video. By far the most challenging and tedious part is running the power cable from the battery, underneath the car, and to the unit in the trunk. Really took a lot of time and dirt in the face to get that completed. Buy extra small zip ties for that task. And remember to hook that power line to the positive terminal on the battery. Once complete though, it works amazing.

Takes a bit of effort but works great! Buy some wire loom.
I installed this on a 2014 Impala. To install, you have to remove some of the trunk lining, like the floor panel and plastic trim piece towards the bumper. Than you will need to partially undo the side panels to get access to the back of the tail lamps. Not a big deal. On the drivers side, is where the black box/module will need to be installed. You can run the trailer connector through a large 2" diameter grommet you will see that another wiring harness is using. Simply take a razor and run a slit from center out on that grommet. What's a bit of a pain is running the included 12 gauge power wire to the battery. It will be a 10 amp circuit. I ran it from the small power distribution panel right above the battery (you will see 60-120 amp fuses/fusible links). I used a unused post and supplied a 5mm nut to secure the ring terminal of the included trailer in-line fuse.I than ran the wire underneath the length of the car. Take your time and be thoughtful. Zip ties and 1/4-3/8" wire loom should be used. Don't let it get close to the exhaust, or hang down, or get loose, or by moving rear suspension parts. The included 12 gauge wire was just long enough (I mean down to the inch) to connect to the black box/module's wire. All in all, an excellent product from curt.

Horrible instructions.... Strongly recommend a different product!
I ordered this kit thinking that it was going to be easy..... Boy was I wrong. All of the instructions say that it's also a 30 minute job. Not even close. I run cables for a living. The instructions make it look like you have to run the hot wire through the cabin. Well it's nearly impossible to get it through the firewall. I called the 800 number and they said, "you should zip tie the wire to the brake line in the undercarriage. This is after it says that instructions for routing is included and an hour of routing the wire through the cabin. Which are not included. I would stay as far away from this company as you can. The actual receiver hitch made by them are way worse to install. It says it's a 30 minute job also. Maybe after you remove the exhaust, cut half of your back bumper cover off then start the clock.

Easy install
This was exactly as described in listing. It was easy to install,(I watched a video first). This was my first installation of a wire system on my car so I wanted to make sure I did it correctly. No problems with this kit.

I was going to return this as the t-connectors don't ...
I was going to return this as the t-connectors don't fit my Impala Limited. I called Uhaul to ask if they had an alternative, and they said that there was no version of this with connectors specific to the Impala Limited, but that a generic splice-in wiring harness would work (They offered to sell and install one, but it costs over $100). Further research also shows that the product description on RockAuto says this only fits the Impala (for consumers), not the Impala Limited (a fleet car). Well... I guess I might as well just splice this in.Now why in the world does GM think it makes sense to use different style connectors in different versions of the same model car that have basically the same wiring???? This is right up there with mixing SAE, metric, Philips, slotted, square drive, metric hex key, SAE hex key, and Torx fasteners... 'just for fun' I guess. So this issue is no fault of Curt's, but I do wish the product description page would make it clear to Impala Limited owners that this will require splicing in, rather than just plugging in. Updates to come if it doesn't work...

Messes up everything
Makes one tail light very dim and turns the camera on every time you hit the brakes. When reversing the camera guidelines aren’t there. Have to disconnect it completely at the tail lights to get rid of the problems.
