Nice thought but does not work as advertised.
I read some reviews that indicated that these containers didn't hold a seal but I decided to take a chance. Unfortunately, I should have passed on this. Right out the box all seemed okay. The vacuum seal seemed to work fine but the next morning, I walked into the kitchen to hear the motor running, the batteries nearly dead, and there was no seal. I installed fresh batteries, and this time I added a little weight to the top. The seal held for two days but failed after that. The worst thing isn't that the product doesn't work; I ruined premium Hawaiian coffee beans that I trusted to the container.

This thing is great. Here's how it works.
It's an almost airtight container with a small vacuum pump attached to the top. Whenever the pressure in the container increases to a certain point, it activates the pump for a few seconds. It uses 2 AA batteries. I've been using it for a week. I'm going to buy a few more before they raise the price.

Vacuum to be or not to be that is the question.
On first use, it would only hold Vac. for 24hrs. and with the battery pack left in, the batt. would go dead within the same amount of time. After removing and cleaning the seals of which there are two, upper and lower, the seal is much better. now it lasts for about a week. I don't leave the batt. pack in, just when needed. batt. are to expensive to leave in 24 & 7! Perhaps the problem is with the valve now. but that's to small to deal with, maybe it will wear-in over time?

Unreliable seal due to compressor
It uses up batteries in less than a week. The vacuum compressor goes off constantly and then without warning the seal is lost when the batteries are drained. However, when it acy works it's great. But I would not recommend because Unreliable.

Fails to seal long term (2-days)
pump seals initially, but must leak because pump runs intermittently always until batteries are depleted. Looks like poor design with short rubber flaps, since replaced one does the same thing. Nice idea for storing coffee, but fails to seal and stay sealed. Recommend: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0046JB136?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Tight vacuum seal, works well.
The first canister pump did not work (DOA). Replacement canister's pump is working well, tight vacuum seal.

need 2 AA batteries to vacuum
the material used is over my expectation, seems very solid and in good quality, when in use, it needs 2 batteries to vacuum automatically, all in all, it worth its value.

Seal performance
Sometimes seal is not tight and within 24hrs of seal found to have no seal at all withing a month of use.Later investigated the above issue and found that once a week or so washing the lid with water and wipe the edge of the container solves the issue.

Don't bother. The pots do not hold their vacuum well enough to work
I bought 3 vacuum food containers to hold coffee and freeze-dried foods. Their problem is that the seals leak, even after I greased the seals with a high quality silicone grease. This means that the tiny vacuum pumps need to work constantly and the batteries are run flat after 8 to 12 hours.Save your money on these and find something else that works. The Delonghi coffee vacuum pots are OK and will hold the vacuum for nearly a week on a single battery charge but the last unit I bought doesn't hold the vacuum so I am returning it for an exchange.
