chocolate heaven !
This book is awesome. For anyone who loves chocolate cake recipes & biscuits this is an excellent book. It also has tart recipes, muffins, biscuits, brownies & drinks.Great photographs, and good layout. One recipe per page & full sized picture. However - the type set (font) is very small, & so would be pretty hard to read for anyone whose eye sight wasn't too great. The book also has an interesting , slighty padded cover.Great book, excellent purchase.

Mmmmm
This has an excellent selection of chocolate treats. The spiced chocolate muffins are my 'go to' receipe when I need a chocolate fix. I have found the other receipes in the book aren't quite as good, but there is a fair selection and range of chocolate goods from cheesecakes to cup cakes. I recently bought another copy for a friend for her birthday. A good all round chocolate book.

I find that highly annoying because one is spending money on what one thinks ...
I recently bought this book very cheap but on hindsight I would say that it was a mistake. After I started to mark the recipes that I wanted to try out I came across recipes that come in a little book which I bought a couple of years ago: Cakes, 100 everyday recipes. I find that highly annoying because one is spending money on what one thinks is a collection of new recipes only to find out that quite a few are in other books one already owns, which makes this book quite useless. Then I have also read reviews of people who found that several recipes have wrong quantities of ingredients, meaning… you will end up throwing ingredients away and therefore will waste money. What I find very annoying is that the editors never keep track of what the readers are saying and don't come up with corrections. It gives me the feeling that they don't care at all. One of my dreams is one day to be invited to work with such an editor and to make sure that any recipe they publish is absolutely up to scratch because that is the minimum anyone buying their books can demand and should be able to expect. Just making a beautiful book is not what cookery books are for, they are working tools. That brings me to the size and colour of the font. For some reason more and more books are printed in very tiny fonts, sometimes grey instead of black, making them very difficult to read especially with less than perfect lighting. I can't help but asking myself what the reason for this might be other than that the only thing they look at is the artistic side of the publishing and have completely lost track of the practical side. Other than that there is a great variety of recipes but... I haven't tried any yet, I have only read the book from cover to cover. This book is probably a conversion of an American book and I have spotted one mistake but there may be more: in the Chocolate Fudge Brownies recipe the amount for butter is only given in cups although all the measurements in the book come only in metric and imperial and we don't normally measure butter in tablespoons so I had to find out that 4 tablespoons of butter is 60g. To be honest I don't even see how to measure butter with a spoon unless you melt it….Bottom line, if you want a beautiful book to decorate your coffee table this is definitely the book for you… If you want to give it as a present to someone who is artistic and appreciates beautiful things this book is definitely a great buy… if you want to make great recipes I would maybe give it a miss unless you buy it very cheap and don't mind throwing some ingredients away when the recipes don't work! And a piece of advice… if recipes don't work don't despair right way, do a Google search to see if you find the same recipe may be corrected either by the authors or someone else! Due to all this I think that 2 stars is all this book deserves! If the editors have been less shoddy it would have been a book to which I would gladly give 5 stars!

Unhappy Easter Bunnies
Bought this for my chocaholic girlfriend. We tried to make one of the chocolate cake recipes - which didn't work as it was way short on the dry ingredients. We made it again double checking everything to make sure we hadn't messed up. Again, the mix was way too runny and we ended up adding flour until it made something bakeable. We made one of the fudge recipes too which didn't seem quite right. We don't want to make any more as good chocolate is an expensive ingredient to waste. Didn't someone make the recipes and check them before it was published ?

Delicious ideas but short on detail
I received this as a gift and was delighted - everything looked delicious! Some recipes however are short on detail while others are perfectly fine - I made a brownie recipe that turned out perfectly, whereas a chocolate cheesecake recipe was badly ordered (making you go back and think, "I should have done X before Y here") and neglected details of the process which I ended up having to scribble in myself (such as "allow melted chocolate to cool partially and bring cheese to room temperature before combining" - which I neglected to do, and the chocolate solidified back into chunks rather than combining smoothly with the cheese). Also, the photo looked nothing like the final product as the photo version had used a much wider, shallower tin. It's beautifully presented but I think I would buy something more instructional in future with clearer details.
