I agree with the JHS review; his is a cool pedal.
I haven't owned a digital delay for a couple decades. I own an analog one for more of a rockabilly slap back sound, but steered clear of pedals with more options for a while. After watching the JHS review of the R Series, I decided to give this one a chance. It definitely does not replace the analog delay for rockabilly, but I didn't suspect that it would.I haven't played around with the looper too much.I like the build quality on the Aquarius. I appreciate that the light strobes in synch with the time. In retrospect, I wish my analog unit did that. There are a lot of interesting settings and you have to play around with them to really get the nuance of how the level and feedback interact with each delay type. I generally prefer "set it and forget it" pedals, but the pandemic means I have more time on my hands to figure out the settings. It doesn't hurt to run this through a headphone amp so you can hear all the delay styles.I totally agree with JHS that the Galaxy setting is really cool. I went back and watched his YouTube video again to see the exact settings he used. In some ways I enjoy the Low Bit setting more, especially for clean sounds. It has a glitschy sound to it where you can set the level and get this interesting balance of your dry signal chased by something a bit more like an 8 bit video game. The Reverse setting is nice for shoegaze sounds. You can definitely do some weird stuff with this. At first I glossed over the more "normal" delay styles but also came around to the Tube Echo.I have run it with both a reverb pedal and outboard spring tank. I would say this pedal favors the pedal more than the tank, but both have their place. It definitely likes the pedal if you are running it with gain. Either way, you can get some nice shoegaze sounds with it.I tried it both in the loop and in front of the amp. I prefer it in the loop but it sounds fine in front as well.

It’s ok
I actually bought the wrong pedal, I meant to get the Atmosphere reverb, and really didn’t need another delay .. that’s on me . Names were similar, and I brain froze. I’m not really into pedals with a lot of knobs and choices... I just like a pedal that does one thing very well, instead of a pedal that does a bunch of things so-so... that’s also on me... To me the delay sounds “robotic “ not natural. Even though it has many settings, seems like there’s not a ton of versatility. I do like the looper side... so I pretty much use it for that. It has a fairly long play time, possibly much more than anyone will ever need (16 minutes, or something?.... you could track the Stairway rhythm twice, with that amount of time) Basically, I use a delay, 90% of the time as a tape echo, slapback only, and this was a little disappointing in that respect.... I’ve used lots of Joyo pedals, and usually really like them, not so much, this time.

Great sound with one annoying flaw
*** Important note! The LEDs on this pedal have the capacity to add annoying noise to your signal. For me, this only happens when the switch on the back is set to “sync” mode, which makes the light flash. I guess the flashing adds something nasty to the current, causing fluttering/popping sounds. The “always on” or “off” settings silence these noises.Aside from that annoying issue, this pedal is awesome. The “galaxy” setting is so gorgeous and musical sounding, it is worth the price of admission alone, and you get all the other delays PLUS a looper! One feature I never see people talk about is the cool controls you have over the looped track. You can alter the tone, volume, and the “tape” modulation effect, adding an interesting texture to your loops. If you want a relatively affordable, nice sounding delay, consider this Joyo. I really like mine, and was so happy that I worked around the issues it does have.

DOA. Buyer beware- check other recent reviews
Defective unit; as others have reported, it did not power on using the appropriate 9v power supply per manual (note: unit does not have a 9volt battery port nor is there option to buy ac adapter from same brand). Dead/defective on arrival. Before purchasing I only noticed/read glowing reviews, not recent ones from Amazon buyers who also received a unit they were unable to power on or one that died shortly after receiving it. I guess its my fault for trying to cheap out and buying what seems to be an online only brand. In my 16+ years of purchasing through Amazon, this is by far the biggest disappointment. Reminds of some bad experiences I had years ago when I still bought items using ebay. I will say that Amazon is MUCH MUCH better when you need to return an item though. I had no problem returing this and quickly receiving a full refund. I purchased a name brand (TC electronics) delay and looper pedal the next day at a local guitar shop.

Returning a lemon unit
Sending mine back for a couple of reasons. The pedal lights up when powered then shuts off and stays in bypass mode. Loop button when pressed flashes red and blue but no looping or fx are recorded. Tried several 9v 100ma neg center power supplies with neg results.

Dead out of the box....
Dead out of the box. None of the delay effects give any signal whatsoever. I only get signal when it is on the looper function. Going to submit a case with Joyo. I'll update my review if they take care of me well.

Great first delay pedal
My first delay pedal, and for the money, couldn't be happier. Lots of delay options, very sturdy materials, and looks great on my board. Wasn't sure what kind of delay sounds I would like, so very happy that this offers different modes. Now just need the reverb and I'll be complete.

GOOD
I have to say I've been completely blown away by this pedal! I had the older Tai chi OD by joyo (the one with the yin yang) and absolutely loved it. I own much more expensive OD pedals but this one is my always on go to overdrive. Considering how inexpensive it is, it is absolutely worth trying it out. Truly a great sounding low gain OD pedal, couldn't be happier with it.
