Names can be deceiving, but there is more to be concerned about.
I bought this item for my cat (a large adult female tabby) to transport her when we move. I should have read all the details, but when I read "Savic Trotter 2 Pet Carrier" I read "2 pet carrier" - easy enough mistake to make I suppose, since the buyer is not to know that there is a Trotter 1 on the market. " Savic Trotter MK 2, Pet Carrier" would have made matters clearer. I mention this for the benefit of other potential buyers and emphasise that I am not awarding 3 stars on this matter - I could have read on, and should have done. However I am awarding 3 stars only for other reasons.First of all - the carrier is relatively easy to put together, however, the instructions do not point out that there are small white tabs - only visible from inside the carrier which much be aligned properly otherwise the top and bottom sections do not fit securely, even if the parts appear from the outside to be properly aligned and could result in you spilling the contents of the pet carrier.Secondly, this is not the sturdiest of boxes. I don't think it will break, but I'm not convinced the handle it secure, so I would recommend holding the carrier from underneath, not from the handle just in case.Third the pet carrier is supposed to be large enough for a small dog. A Jack Russell is a small dog, is it not? But this box is really *only just* big enough for my fully grown female tabby, who is not as large as a Jack Russell. I'm not sure a miniature schnauzer would be comfortable. She will not be able to stand up in the box, and she will not be able to lay with her limbs out as she does at home, it will demand an all-four-paws-tucked-in poseFourth, the spaces between the bars of the grille are quite large. This means that when my girl is in the box cross and scared she will still be able to inflict damage on any one within her reach. I don't think it is safe for cats to be able to sit with their tails or paws out of these things either, twists and breaks could occur. When I transport my girl it will be with something over the grille.Fifth and most importantly: I found an imperfection on the grille - some shards of metal that are sharp enough to cut through skin. The sort of thing that could injure eyes or paws thrust through the grille. I can repair this myself, but I shouldn't have to.To be honest I should have gone to Another Retail Giant whose Outlets are Several.

Good, strong carrier
We got this carrier to take our two 6 week old kittens home. It arrived in good time, assembly was straightforward and it looks sturdy. Both the carrier and the kittens survived the long journey (subway, bus to edinburgh, walk, picking up kittens, taxi to train station, two trains, taxi home). The kittens are tiny so obviously the carrier looked massive when they were inside but we feel that it would be big enough for two fully grown cats too. You can see you pet/stroke it throught the rails/ talk to it to calm it down, which we had to do. The front bit clips on so you can use it as a door (can open on either side) or take it off and the kittens can use it as a bed/hiding place, which ours are doing. In fact, they voluntarily spent their first night in there, so it can't be bad. I would say it's good value for money, I can't thing of any problems with it. Would recommend.

Value for money
I bought both this product and the Savic Trotter 1 carrier which is smaller. The first time they were used, two of our cats spent over three hours in the carriers and we didn't hear any complaints. They are easy to assemble and can be quickly taken apart to save space when storing them. I put a cat weighing 16lbs in the Trotter 2 and he had plenty of space and I didn't feel it might collapse under his weight. It is robust, has a securely closing door and is comfortable to carry. I had looked at several alternatives available and I'm happy that I made a good choice in the Savic Trotter 2.

NOT IMPRESSED
The Clips that hold the 2 half shells together are Not a positive fit, they part unclip at the lightest touch, and completely unclip with only the slightest pressure. Thus will not rely on the handle to lift, will carry holding under the base.Would have considered returning this but unfortunately need to use it in 2 Days so no time to source an alternative. The carrier this replaces has a similar design but has a very positive and secure snap and is hard to unclip {unfortunately no longer made [not savic])Update.Decided that not prepared to risk this and returned it.

Small Cats Only please
I bought this for my two kittens, they are 8 months and 10 months old and honestly I think in a few months this carrier will not be big enough for them. I'm unsure how other reviewers are cramming their large cats into one of these! The metal door is a bit sharp too which I don't like much, the handle only attaches in a loose fashion in my opinion too so I wouldn't risk a heavier cat in this box either. Overall for me though it will do what I planned and serve a temporary purpose for my youngsters and once larger I will use a different carrier. If you have a large cat this is not for you.

Does the job, easy to store
This carrier works very well. Our cat is larger than your regular cat (was 7kg but very broad and tall) and we could fit her in without issue (ignoring her struggle to keep out).It is not obvious from the picture, but there are clips that keep the top and bottom together. The clips make it very easy to remove the top half of the carrier (helps to take her out when she is scared, and also means we can take this apart for much easier storage). This is a really great carrier and I would definitely recommend it to people with cat sized or smaller pets.

Great
Fast delivery, easy to put together, very strong and light and just the right size for my (small) female cat. Sturdy, too-she is the one who always tries to escape! - and easy to open and close the door. Take care putting the pegs in the slots and moving the "gate" the right way- the pegs are not over-strong and can break off, which makes closing the door a bit more problematic (can be solved with wiring it together though) I have a bigger size (next one up) for my tomcat, he wouldn't be able to turn around in this one. Very pleased with it, especially at this price.
